Experience offshore sailing with like minded ocean adventurers and change-makers
With multiple sailing boats we plan to sail from the Mediterranean into the Atlantic! Winter is approaching and it’s time to head south.
This rather spontaneous ocean adventure is organised and hosted by Ocean Minded and Ocean Nomads. We open up this opportunity for Ocean Nomads which are very keen on long distance sailing, learning, epic teamwork, mile building and a hands on job.
We facilitate the trip, the boats, and connection between a beautiful mix of purpose-driven salty souls and between you and nature.
One week is way too short you said (all crew Croatia 2019). So here we go! This trip may take 2 or even 3 weeks.
Start date: Oktober 25
Arrival: Dependent on the weather
Departure from Mallorca
Arrival in Tenerife
Possible stops in Gibraltar / Madeira. All weather dependent.
OceanMinded is the heart project of Skipper Momo, born out of a passion for the sea. Water benefits all things, has the power to purify body & mind – it awakens us to the true richness of life. In contact with the Ocean we discover, learn, and change – sometimes more internally than externally. OceanMinded aims to inspire and connect, to help you rediscover your connection to a wider whole via Sailing Expeditions, Freediving and Conservation Projects. This flotilla is the kick-off event for Momo’s venture „OceanMinded Canary Islands“, and everyone joining will be also be in for a future vip treatment when chartering boats in the Canary Islands or attending future Freedive Retreats in the Latitudes of Life.
The Ocean Nomads philosophy
We share and care for the Ocean Nomads ‘slow sailing’ philosophy. The focus is on simplicity, health, local food and community connection, active, adventure and sustainability mindset, walking the talk, and collaboration.
Ocean Nomads is a tribe of young (by heart:)) adventurous ocean lovers that are after an active outdoor ocean lifestyle. We share the fun, ideas & projects on low-budget, mindful, self-sufficient positive impact ways to live and travel sustainably at sea.
It’s amazing how us all, people from different places, got along with each other so well. We’ve made definitely long lasting friendships. Thank you for bringing us together. – Marcin (Ocean Nomads Crew Lanzarote 2019)

This may not be the right adventure, if:
You just want a cheap ride to save on airfare.
You just want to go from A to B, arriving date x.
You can’t commit to at least 3 weeks.
You’re not excited about sailing and all that comes with it.
You need to be alone often. You won’t have much privacy this trip.
You can’t adapt to a new situation with new people.
You want to sit back and relax.
You’re emotionally unstable or depressed.
This is a high level and own risk sailing adventure. By applying you are confident and capable of being a valuable crew member to help the boat safely sailing to Tenerife. By exception and shown determination, skillset and willpower little experienced sailors will be considered.
It will get wet, it will get rough, and it will get tough. You are up for this!
Boats will be professionally skippered by a qualified and likeminded Ocean Nomads Skipper.
Boats are german flagged and have all the necessary safety equipment under German law (including Epirb).
Boats will have a minimum of 3 crew and maximum of 5 crew we carefully put together based on skillset and mindset + skipper.
We aim to go with 3 or 4 boats.
On board we work as a team. We share the tasks, operation, and sailing of the boat. We provision, cook, sail, take watch, fix things if necessary together as a team.
This is an offshore trip meaning day and night will be sailed.
This is a dry trip, meaning no alcohol at sea will be drunken.
This is a fish and meat-free trip. You’re ok with eating vegetarian style on board. For the reason it’s more environmentally friendly, it’s healthy, and it’s much easier on a boat.
We do what we can to minimize our environmental impact. We sail as much as we can and use the motor as little as we can. We aim to provision as local as possible with as little plastic as possible. Preperation and doing your part is key.
We enter the boats on Oktober 25/26. We prepare together. We may sail out the next day, we may sail out the next week. We are dependent on the weather. To be able to join make sure you don’t have anything in your agenda until November 15.
Expect to work hard. Have a positive and open attitude, be loyal and take part in all tasks on board.
Expected the unexpected with an open mindset and just let the adventure happen!

“In my opinion, Ocean Nomads sailing adventures are: 1. A reward for the senses by discovering incredibly beautiful places and breathtaking sceneries. 2. An unbeatable way to get introduced or advance into the world of sailing, 3. An open window to learn watching our world and the people from another more conscious perspective. The trip inspires others with ideas and proposals to define or redefine life projects and use inner energy for more noble purposes.” – Jose (Sicily Crew 2018)
