Logbook, the Netherlands, September 2026
Sooo great uniting with fellow Ocean Nomads in the Netherlands this weekend!
From far away corners we made way to meet in person, on SV Windfall. Oh so important and precious!
Thank you for making the effort, moving this movement, your energy, and also all that delicious yummyness you all made from scratch shining the ON values 🫶
Maike just sailed to Denmark on her own vessel! Bart just sailed to the UK and back crossing shipping lanes in a tiny sloop, because, why not? Menno is going strong getting his vessel ready to put in the water (hands on deck wanted!). Monique joined with fresh harvest from her garden and pro photography skills.
And Thomas is going for his first trip on Windfall this week. Years of boatworks and very soon she’s heading south to sail across the Atlantic with Koen kitesurfing across. Robert from SV Twister came to say hi and we are soo excited about getting more Ocean Nomads on board soon for that voyage (spots are going fast!). And then Heinke & Chris hopped by to learn more about Ocean Nomads.
Sometimes we may forget about how special this bunch is, until you put us all in the same room. I’m superpowered from it!
A meeting like this gives me so much strength to keep pursuing my dream. When I hear about your experiences, I feel again that I’m not alone in being crazy enough to have big dreams. Thank you Thomas for hosting in your oh-so-busy schedule! Hope to see you all over New Year’s on Mindelo, Cape Verde! – Menno (Welcoming Crew!)
Fun fact: I was the only one without a vessel! What courageous legends you all are.
To all, do not hesitate to initiate a meet-up near you, welcome fellow Ocean Nomads on board, ask your questions, or share about your latest adventure. We are all curious and rooting for each other! Our online hub is here to put the ripple effects in motion.
To all boatowners, make sure you add your vessel to the map, and share your needs and possibilities for crewing, support, or just drop questions. We are a whole bunch here with so much accumulated wisdoms from the seas, boats, and all the processes to stay afloat. No need to figure it all out by yourself.
And to all (aspiring) crew, share your availability and wishes. There are more boat owners than you think who’d welcome you on board. Most opportunities are just not advertised as often, there’s no need.
Xx Suzy
Coming up: New Year in Cape Verde
The next big one is New Year in Mindelo, Cape Verde, from 30 December. A whole bunch of us sail in from the Canaries, among them SV Twister with a crew of ocean nomads on the leg from Tenerife, Christmas at sea included.
Then a new Ocean Nomads crew sails out of Mindelo on Twister, across the Atlantic to Martinique, together with Koen and Thomas on their kitesurf crossing of the Atlantic. Probably the biggest gathering of Ocean Nomads yet!
Sailing in on your own boat, or around Cape Verde at that time? Come and celebrate with us. Members find all the details and RSVP in the event inside the community.
Curious what’s open right now? Have a look at our latest crew calls.
Come join us 💙
