The Journey

What it feels like

Morning light on the water. A yoga session that quiets your mind before the sails go up. The balance between moving inward, breath, body, stillness, and opening outward to wind, water, and a crew of people you’re getting to know. This trip lives in the space between those two things.

Route & rhythm

We sail the IJsselmeer and Markermeer: two large lakes in the Netherlands that were once open sea. The route depends on the wind. We might visit old fishing towns like Enkhuizen, Medemblik, Stavoren, or Hindeloopen. We might anchor near the Marker Wadden, a recently created nature island and bird paradise. Each day is different.

Mornings start with a 75–90 minute yoga session led by Amber, either on land if we find a quiet spot, or on the foredeck of the boat. After that, we plan the route together, hoist the sails, and head out. You learn sailing by doing, helming, working the jib, the mainsail. Evenings are spent in harbour: cooking together, walking ashore, or just sitting on deck watching the boats come in.

Experience

This is a trip for balance — not intensity. Yoga grounds you, sailing opens you up. The combination gives the week a rhythm that’s hard to find anywhere else.

Participation

No sailing or yoga experience needed. You learn by doing. Life onboard is simple and shared. We sail, cook, practise yoga, and live together as a crew. Plans change with the weather. That’s part of it.

Moments

Yoga on the foredeck with nothing but water around you. Sailing into a harbour you’ve never heard of and finding the best little café. Cooking dinner together with food you bought at a local market. The quiet of an anchorage after a full day on the water. Realising that five days without your phone felt like two weeks, in the best way.

  • A yoga practice you can take home with you
  • More confidence on the water at the helm and on deck
  • The feeling of a week lived at a completely different pace
  • Connection with a small crew of like-minded people
  • A taste for the Dutch lakes you didn’t know existed

Your SKIPPER

Menno Simons

Menno has been sailing since 2015, when a holiday in Greece changed everything. Since then he’s earned his Dutch coastal skipper certifications, VHF radio licence, first aid, and sea survival training. He’s an Ocean Nomads ambassador with a passion for sharing the freedom of sailing — and for showing people how much beauty there is on the Dutch waters.
