From Den Helder to Scheveningen Ocean Nomads joine

From Den Helder to Scheveningen Ocean Nomads joined one leg of the Fair Ferry, travelling and exploring the Netherlands under sail. In about 70 nautical miles we navigated the North Sea with all sails up. No push buttons, plastic or complicated technology on this classic ship. Hands-on power and active souls are required to hoist the sails and steer the vessel.

What @fair_ferry , @twistersailing , and Ocean Nomads have in common: we encourage and facilitate sail boat travel. The adventurous kind. One way trips. Exploring places along the way. Pure and simple. We teamed up to accelerate our missions.

This trip was the appetizer for the big journey we have ahead. This autumn we’ll sail Twister from the Netherlands to Tenerife over the Atlantic with Expedition ON together with a like minded bunch of Ocean Nomads. We are a mix of entrepreneurs, alternative lifestyle seekers, self sufficiency enthusiasts, and water sports fanatics. Driven by passion and purpose for the love of the ocean, we explore the exciting ways to travel oceans and create regenerative lifestyles. We’ve now tested Twisters sea worthiness, met the lovely owners, skipper, and mate, and experienced the performance and potential of this vessel. She’s beautiful. She’s fast. She’s solid. She’s big. She’s spacious. She’s super comfortable. She’s got soul. She lasts. We’re super excited to take her on an offshore voyage this autumn.

Where? Waddenzee, the Netherlands

Join us onboard a traditional Dutch flat-bottom boat! We are sailing the Wadden Sea in the Netherlands on a 16.5m sailing barge built like a classic fishing boat. There are 8 berths available… no experience necessary, just enthusiasm and spontaneity for an adventure, Ocean Nomads style! Will you join us?

We are working with a local charter company to hire a 16.5m traditional flat-bottom Dutch sailing barge. She was built in 2003 in the style of a classic ‘vissermanaak’, aka fishing boat.
She has beautiful sails for us to hoist, lots of ropes to pull, a bowsprit and big leeboards to raise & lower when we’re sailing along.
Thanks to her flat-bottom, she can easily take the soft ground of the Wadden Sea. When the tide goes out we don’t have to panic; instead we create our own mooring, to be left alone with nature where we desire! On purpose we plan this trip with the new moon to be able to take advantage of the tide.

Founding member Boris:
“I am renting a classic flat bottom sailboat to go sailing with a friend on the tidal waters of Zeeland, this weekend. We've been upgraded to a bigger boat, so we have room for one or two more to join us. Anybody interested?” The boat is a Vreedenburgh Schokker. The weather looks good for sailing, although clouded and we could have some rain. Still, it's sailing with a classic boat, on salt water!
You can join Friday evening, or Saturday morning in Ooltgensplaat, or I can pick you up from train station Zevenbergen or Etten-Leur.
We plan to be back Sunday afternoon.
Who's up for it?” Founding member Willemijn, Ocean impact founder of Searious Business, saw the ocean adventure opportunity on our online community space and jumped on board with her 6 and 8 year old. Off they went for a weekend of fun, splashing around and connecting to nature and likeminded salty souls. 🐳🍀🎉⛵️💙
